These will be very informal classes and you can have as much or as little tuition as you’d like. It is entirely up to you whether you would prefer to use materials that you feel comfortable with, or would like to have a go at things you might not have tried before.

You are also welcome to come to as many or as few sessions as you like. I have run workshops all over Derbyshire for the last 10 years and I happy to finally bring them to my home town on a regular basis.

Programme  for Spring 2011

2nd March

Basic points in observational drawing, looking at shape and form. Demonstration using charcoal as a drawing medium and pencil + putty rubber.

9th March

Spring will be here and we shall work from photographs and gathered flowers and buds. How to capture atmosphere and mood through colour and tone. Please bring the materials of your choice.

16th March

Continuation of Spring workshop. Using similar subjects as last week, we will be working on dark paper with oil pastels for a quick and vibrant piece of art work. (Some oil pastels will be provided)

23rd March

Drawing a portrait. I will cover some very simple and straightforward steps on how to draw the face and head. We may have a model to work from.

30th March

Continuation of portrait work from previous week / or do your own thing.

6th April

What does Easter mean to you? Produce your own themes for todays work. Demonstration using acrylic paint.

Melbourne Festival Postcard

As promised, here is the postcard for the Melbourne Festival that I was commissioned to do for the Melbourne Festival Committee. It’s a panoramic view of Melbourne from the top of St. Mary’s Church on a very windy day. It was a very windy day.

Excellent news, for the 4th year running, I am taking part in the Melbourne Festival again!

Woodland no.4

I have been flattered to have a piece of my work used on the flyers for the event. The flyers for the festival can be found in pubs and shops around Melbourne and the outlying districts.

The piece that the organisers have used is an acryllic and pastel panoramic view from the top of the church of St Michael with St Mary, next to Melbourne Hall that I did a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, I have not got a scanned copy yet but will post one very soon!

I do hope you can come and see me over the festival weekend and I hope you like the work that I have prepared for the weekend. I’ve got a little taster with this post for you.

Prices for some of the smaller unframed prints  start from just £10 so I hope you can enjoy a little piece of my labour somewhere in your home or perhaps as a gift for a friend or relative.
