About Laura

Laura Donaldson is a professional artist living in Melbourne, Derbyshire. Born in 1974, raised just outside Uttoxeter, attending the local secondary school for her GCSEs before going to Repton School to complete her A levels. She studied fine art at Edinburgh, graduating in 1998.

Laura has worked on private commissions of all types, from painting themed series for company calenders through to board room pieces and family portraits. She also produces work for exhibitions and regularly has her work displayed at the Little Gallery in Belper.

Whilst Laura predominantly works with acrylic & oil pastels, she is an accomplished artist using watercolours, pencil, and oils - in fact, no medium is shunned in search of an aesthetic outcome - including gold!

Laura has worked with children and the elderly, running art courses and studios as well as returning to Repton School’s Art Department as a teaching assistant. She has also worked with local councils on projects with children to help develop their confidence as part of social development and inclusion initiatives.

Laura’s interests outside of art include cookery, walking, gardening, reading, music, socialising and some more reading!

She welcomes commissions of all kinds.
